Hurricane season started on June 1, it is important to be prepared

Here we have some suggestions to help you get prepared for the hurricane season

Hurricane Kit

Food & Water

  1. Drinking Water one gallon per person per day

  2. Food enough for at least 3 or 4 days

  3. Unscented household bleach to purify water 8 drops per gallon

  4. Entertainment for kids and adults

 

Emergency Supplies

  1. First aid kit

  2. Medicines/prescription drugs: 2-week supply

  3. Fire Fire Extinguisher

  4. Flashlight and extra batteries

  5. Battery-operated or hand-crack radio

  6. Hard line telephone with jack

 

First Aid Kit

  1. Bandage in various sizes

  2. Sterile gauze pads

  3. antibacterial soap

  4. Antiseptic

  5. Scissors

  6. Needle

  7. Thermometer

  8. Non-Prescription Drugs:

    • Pain reliever

    • Anti- Diarrhea medication

    • Antacid

    • Laxative

Tools & other supplies:

  1. Paper plates, napkins, and plastic eating utensils

  2. Extra bedding in case of evacuation

  3. Clothing, including rain gear and sturdy shoes

  4. Manual can opener

 

Have your important documents with you such as, insurance policies, Social Security cards, passports, immunization records, inventory of the valuable household goods, contracts, deeds, wills, etc.

When The Storm Approaches

1.Plan where to stay during the storm
2.Identify a safe room
3.If you need to evacuate call 866-438-4636
4.Get your hurricane kit (see back)
5.Stay informed listen to the radio or watch TV
6.Make records of your assets for insurance purposes
7.Protect important papers (insurance policies, etc.) keep them in a waterproof container.

8.Protect your home do not leave loose items
9.Turn refrigerators and freezers to the coldest settings
10.Get gas
11.Get cash
12. Charge cell phones

In the case that your home is located in an evacuation zone map a route to the shelters near your area.
